FAQ

How much is the training and what is included? 

Tuition is $3550 and includes all course fees, workshops as well as a training manual and philosophy manual. Students are required to purchase “The Key Poses of Yoga” by Ray Long and “The Yamas & Niyamas: Exploring Yoga's Ethical Practice” by Deborah Adele. 

Will I be able to teach Yoga classes after this course? 

Upon successful completion of the course, there were many avenues one can take. You may choose to add these skills to your existing profession. You may choose to start a class and rent space. Or you may want to work in a studio setting. Please note when it comes to individual studios,  they may require a certain amount of teaching hours, or have you conduct Charity Classes before employing you.

What are the requirements to pass the course?

You would need to pass 2 written exams, one  oral exam (one  hour teaching class), monthly homework assignments and 100% attendance. 

What is I miss a day of training?

If you wish  to receive a certificate for completing the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training program with the Maritime Yoga College, then you will need to be present for the full course. The Yoga Alliance requires a certain amount of hours for students to complete various educational categories in order to be certified. If you miss a day, there is an opportunity to catch up one-on-one with an instructor for $36/hour. 

Do I need to register with the Yoga Alliance? 

No. It is not necessary, but it’s up to you if the membership perks they offer are worth it. The only thing you need before you start teaching is insurance.

Is there a regulatory body for Yoga?

No. At this time there is no regulatory body for Yoga. It’s important students do their due diligence when researching a school. Maritime Yoga is a registered school with the Yoga Alliance, which produces a framework and standards for Yoga Schools. Maritime Yoga is also a part of the PEI Private Schools Act. 

Is Maritime Yoga a Private School?

Yes, we are a registered  private school with the province of Prince Edward Island. As such, there are extra policies on place to protect student’s tuition as well we provide a T-2202a tax form for tuition. Also there is no tax added to tuition fees.

What do I need to bring to training? 

Bring a notebook if you like to take notes. Wear comfortable clothing. Bring any props you like to have, but know we also have bolsters, chairs, blankets, blocks ands mats. Also bring a water bottle and any food to keep you nourished for the day. The training will be near a lovely beach so if you wish to spend some of your break there, come prepared.
